Buongiorno! What a lovely January day to bring you a breathtaking couple on their engagement shoot in beautiful Florence, Italy! This type of photoshoot has become very popular in recent years, for multiple reasons. Besides documenting a memorable moment in the lives of a couple before marriage and reflecting their personality and style, engagement shoots also serve to get comfortable in front of the camera with your photographer before the wedding, as well having personal images to use for your Save-the-Dates. You really can’t go wrong then, when you combine those reasons with a stunning location and a talented team of stylists!
Together with photographer David Bastianoni and look-maker Daniela Delia, we curated a series of stops around the city to capture Mark and Claire’s engagement. Words cannot describe the gorgeousness of this couple! Needless to say, it was not very difficult to create such beautiful images with such stunning subjects.
The day started at the luxurious Villa Cora in the Mirror Room with Claire in a very sexy, boudoir-style moment. “Boudoir” photoshoots have also exploded onto the wedding scene, usually in the form of a private album of sensual photos of the bride to give to her groom as a keepsake. Claire was dressed in the finest laces and silks and adorned with roses and peonies, creating a truly romantic scene in the opulent setting.
Mark eventually joined Claire in getting ready and off they were on a jaunt through Florence. First stop: the ancient steps of San Miniato al Monte, dressed in classic black tie, reflecting the couple’s chic, timeless style. It was truly an Italian-style occasion.
Afterwards, they made their way towards Piazza della Repubblica by way of chic shopping street Via Tornabuoni just in time for sunset. This is what Florence is famous for, those golden rays of light reflecting off the ancient facades and illuminating the streets, warming the skin as well as the soul – such a romantic setting for a romantic moment!
A trip to Piazza della Repubblica would not be complete without two very important stops: the historic café Gilli for a super romantic aperitif and a ride on the famous carousel.
Relaxed, wistful and happy, Mark and Claire then embraced in a perfect shot that only a dark and dreamy Florence can offer, with the ancient bridge, Il Ponte Vecchio, illuminated in the background and reflected in the river Arno – the perfect ending to a classic Florentine love story.
